KIT logo

The KIT logo combines a blue sphere, red pyramid, yellow cube, and green cylinder above wide KIT lettering. The lettering and square border use Uno blue, #0067ED.

cover.png shows the logo with its Uno-blue perspective grid. previews/logo-clean.png is the alternate without the grid. The shapes use subtle face gradients and a curved two-tone sphere seam. There are no cast shadows.

Build

Use Python 3.11 or later and librsvg. On macOS, install librsvg with brew install librsvg.

python3 build.py

The command writes two SVGs to art/, two PNGs to previews/, and cover.png. The PNGs are 1000 by 1000 pixels. No Python packages are required.

Edit source/design.py for the face contours, gradient colors, and lettering dimensions. source/logo.py draws the shapes and grid.

Version history

The canonical repository is @christopher/kit-logo, on refs/heads/main. Keep each design iteration in a separate signed commit with its source, matching previews, and manifest. Restore older designs with a new commit so history remains intact.

Uno Kits does not accept SVG uploads. This repository stores editable drawing source and PNG previews. Build the SVGs locally from that source. manifest.json records the size and SHA-256 hash of every stored file except itself.

Brand variations

Nine exploratory treatments preserve the original contours and wide lettering. They include blue backgrounds with white lettering, rounded frames, standalone wordmarks, a horizontal arrangement, a compact tile, and a monochrome reverse. The approved grid and clean logos remain the primary assets.

source/variations.py defines each treatment. The build also writes individual SVGs to art/variations/ and PNGs to previews/variations/. previews/variations/comparison.png shows the set together.

Shape library

source/shapes.py draws each solid individually and the original composition without lettering. Six treatments cover gradients, flat faces, Uno-blue tones, blue outlines, white reverses, and color on blue. Individual assets use an 800 by 800 canvas. The first four treatments have a transparent canvas; outline faces are opaque white so hidden edges remain hidden. Blue tiles have rounded corners.

Run the build to generate SVGs in art/shapes/ and PNGs in previews/shapes/. shape-library.png compares the 24 individual assets. symbol-library.png compares the six compositions. Individual solids share a scale and baseline within their canvases. Grouped symbols preserve the original relative positions. These assets supplement the approved logos.

Favicons and social cards

The web assets add a white K favicon on Uno blue and a 1200 by 630 PNG social card with white solids and the KIT wordmark. previews/favicon/ contains the raster icons; previews/og/example.png is the rendered social card.

Run build.py, then web/generate.py to derive SVG web artwork and favicons locally. For the social card, install dependencies in web/og/ with bun install --frozen-lockfile, run bun run dev, and fetch /og.png from the local server. web/GUIDE.md describes integration in the website repository; its relative asset links refer to that repository layout.

Alternate sphere favicon

Run web/sphere.py to generate a white sphere on the same rounded Uno-blue tile as the K favicon. The curved seam follows the original sphere contour. previews/favicon/sphere-16.png, sphere-32.png, and sphere-48.png allow comparison at native browser sizes. The K remains the current favicon.

Multi-shape favicons

Run web/multi-shape.py for a two-solid alternate and three-solid alternates in white and full color. The three-solid arrangement combines a pyramid, sphere, and cube inside the rounded blue tile. previews/favicon/ contains each treatment at 16, 32, and 48 pixels. These are comparison assets; the K favicon remains available.

Cylinder favicon alternate

The cylinder alternate replaces the pyramid with the green cylinder. It keeps the sphere and cube in the same positions. three-cylinder-color uses the original gradients; three-cylinder is the white reverse. The source is web/multi-shape.py, with native-size PNGs in previews/favicon/.

The cylinder favicon places the sphere higher in the composition: its top is 20 units from the tile edge on the 64-unit canvas. The cube and cylinder keep their positions and sizes.

Square KIT favicon

Run web/kit-square.py to fit the complete white KIT wordmark into a rounded Uno-blue square. The original 66.51 by 19.79 unit wordmark scales uniformly to 60 units wide on a 64-unit canvas. Its aspect ratio, contours, and letter spacing remain unchanged. SVG and ICO exports go to art/favicon/. Lossless PNG exports from 16 through 512 pixels are in previews/favicon/. web/favicon-quality.md records the sizing guidance and limitations.

Geometric solid library

source/solid_library.py constructs 36 geometric volumes in a shared axonometric projection. The forms include prisms, pyramids, curved solids, rings, arches, hollow forms, and connected blocks. Each uses Uno blue or a complementary primary color with consistent face shading and no cast shadow. Curved surfaces use fine polygon facets.

The build writes 600 by 600 transparent PNGs and matching SVGs to previews/solids/ and art/solids/. Each asset fits its own canvas; the assets do not share a physical scale. solid-library.png is the labeled 6 by 6 comparison grid. All individual SVGs are under 100 KB; the combined grid is larger. The primary logo and favicon remain unchanged.
